Looking back

Following Divine Music and the Schütz side-by-side, our 2024 project explored the vocal music of Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, one of the pre-eminent female composers of the seventeenth century, including much of her sumptuous 1650 Vespers.

Applications opened in autumn 2023 for student singers of all voice parts and a small number of student keyboard continuo players. Applicants took part in an open workshop day with conductor and harpsichordist Christopher Bucknall and soprano Miriam Allan on Thursday 11 January 2024, alongside a solo masterclass, and the IT&T Student Vocal Consort was chosen from the day.

The consort then rehearsed and performed with soloists Miriam Allan, Kate Symmonds-Joy, David de Winter and Christopher Webb and players from IT&T, directed by Christopher Bucknall, in Harmonious Siren at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday 10 February 2024.
