Looking back on our Summer Concert Series 2026
This summer we returned to Christ Church Cathedral for six Tuesday evenings of music, from 7 July to 11 August. Each concert was curated by a different member of the IT&T family, which gave the series its wonderful variety.

7 July: Early Career Artist Showcase
Curated by Elizabeth Nurse, the series opened with some of the UK’s most talented young baroque musicians, performing alongside players from the ensemble.
14 July: Sacré et Profane of the Ancien Régime
On Bastille Day, Edward Higginbottom explored the sacred and the profane from the court and chapel of pre-Revolutionary France, for haute-contre, two violins, bass viol and harpsichord.
21 July: French Connections
Jonty Slade traced the musical dialogue between France and Germany, with Telemann’s Paris Quartets, Fantasias and Essercizii Musici alongside movements from Couperin’s L’impériale.

28 July: Songs for these distracted times
Christopher Bucknall turned to music of reflection and relief from the English Civil War, for voices and instruments.
4 August: Bach and the Mendelssohn Family
Jean Patterson took us to the Mendelssohns’ Berlin Sunday salons, with Bach’s Art of Fugue, Mozart’s arrangement of a Bach fugue, and music by Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, including Felix’s String Quintet in A major.
11 August: Ayres of the Night
Rachel Byrt closed the series with the evening music of seventeenth-century Oxford, London and Lübeck.
Thank you to everyone who came, to our musicians and curators, and to Christ Church Cathedral for welcoming us once again. Plans for the 2027 series are already under way: join our mailing list to be the first to hear.
